Welcome to our wonderful teaching programme! You are sure to find something here to inspire you.
One day workshops are from 10am until 4pm unless otherwise stated. Bookings must be made in advance and accompanied by the full payment. A refund can only be given if 4 weeks notice of cancellation is received ( less £5 administration costs) *denotes new class. +denotes visiting tutor therefore no refund on cancellation. No Transfers can be made. We welcome BEGINNERS to all our workshops and courses unless otherwise stated.

Learn all the basic skills such as rotary cutting, machine piecing, hand applique, quilting basting and finishing a quilt, add a sprinkle of humour and a large dash of companionship, to make a wall hanging and quilting friends for life!

Make an improvisational pieced background and applique trees in monochrome. Suitable for a small piece or the centre of a large quilt or make a most delightful bag or cushion. Machine sewing.

Sally is a well known teacher of wool applique from California. Take this opportunity to learn some tips and skills from an expert on this relaxing hand craft. Penny rugs are an old method of making decorative table runners, wall hangings and centre pieces. Wool felt is stitched with the primitive buttonhole stitch to make a fun and easy project.

Our clubs are times when sewers can -get-together and work on their own projects in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Tutors available 10am - 12.30pm or all evening. Once enrolled you only pay when you come (£8)
Club members meet from 9.30am and often stay until closing!

Philippa Naylor - a biography!
Born in Yorkshire, Philippa discovered a love of sewing as a child. After training to be a clothes designer she worked in the lingerie industry before moving to Saudi Arabia. A chance meeting in 1996 led to a quilting course, after which clothing became less interesting and quilting an all consuming passion. Philippa combines her technical expertise and designer training to produce intricately machine pieced quilts which are heavily machine quilted often utilising trapunto.
Philippa has had great success in quilt shows in both the UK and America, and won many prizes including awards in four consecutive American Quilter Society shows (including the bernina Workmanship Award in 2002, Best of Shw at the fFestival of quilts and the Machine Artistry award at the International Quilt festival in Houston. Since 2004 Philippa has lived back in Yorkshire.
We are thrilled that Philippa is visitng Quilters Haven.

Exploration of this wonderful technique begins with an in-depth discussion of materials, equipment and working methods. After extensive demonstartions students practice the techniques and sew a wide range of samples (flower, leaf, leaf and line designs using a variety of threads. They will leave the class feeling inspired, confident and keen to improve their skills.

A practical workshop exploring an exciting range of machine applique techniques. You will produce a small sample piece which employs raw-edged, satin stitch, turned edge and blind hem stitch applique. Learn how perfect satin stitch and turned under circles are sewn, how to make and apply bias cut stems and how to produce outstanding sharp points. All this and a wealth of information on materials, equipment and personal techniques too! Patterns are provided.

A practical workshop to help you to achieve prize winning accuracy. Masses of techniques, information and advice on every stage of the piecing process. Use simple machine stitchery to create a series of stunning fabric bowls - no-one will believ how quickly you made them! During the day you’ll create three different designs using machine satin stitch in a contrasting colour to edge and join the fabric shapes.
