Stargazey patterns
Beez and Hivez
Time for Stargazey gals to move outside again and consider Beez buzzing around their Hivez - what lovely images they conjure! Your vision may include healthy country air, it may be closer to home in your own beautiful flower filled garden, or may stretch to include the bountiful edible gift these busy creatures give to us.
To help you fashion your busy bee vista Ive designed two blocks. Sizes in both range from the tiny 4 through 6, 8 to 10. Both the hivez and beez tailz are made from strips easily pieced for a great graphic look. In the usual Stargazey style we have simple cutting and straight stitching, but with more pieces here than in many Stargazey patterns these blocks just arent the quickest blocks around.
Get busy honey!

Ladybirdz pattern
"Ladybird ladybird fly away home, your house is on fire and the children all gone...."
It's a wonderful nursery rhyme with a slightly macabre tone but the ladybirdz in my imagination and experience live more fortunate lives. I adore their roundness, their 'fire engine red' coat, their whimsical black spots, and especially the way they amble happily over my hand - they certainly put a smile on my face.
In Stargazey Style they couldn't be easier to construct. Choose a body colour, add a touch of black for the head and backbone then a zappy background fabric. Simple cutting and stitching will get them quickly on the move.
Ladybirdz can be made in four sizes; 4", 6", 8" and 10". Then there are two ways to situate them in their block - 'straight' or 'on point'. In my sample I've set mine in a medallion style using all sizes and both versions. They would also work well in a simple block grid to look like a specimen box or combined with Butterfliez and Beez out in the garden.
Don't get stuck on just red ladybirdz either - beetlez and bugz come in all sorts of coatz, a blue coat could turn ladybirdz into the Christmas beetle of my childhood.
Fly home, forget the kids and get stitching!

Housez pattern
Housez
For these housez you will be given a recipe but no templates - trimming and designing as you go to make each unique. Make your quilt as individual as you are in this free Stargazey style. No exact 1/4 seams or perfectly matched corners needed in these blocks!
My sample is made in 4, 6, 8, & 10 blocks but you will be given the recipe for 12 housez also. Choose any size block, any size quilt or a combination of blocks. My picket fence is pretty fine too but a simpler border might be your choice.
I chose to vary both the house and the background fabrics for my favoured scrappy look, but you may choose a minimum of one fabric for each.

Handbagz pattern
Handbagz
Here is a girly treat to remind us just what fun dressing up can be!
In usual Stargazey style these 4", 6", 8" and 10"blocks are simply cut from rectangles and quite freely pieced. A big trim at the end creates perfect block sizings.
Flaps are cut to shape as you make up each handbag. Keep them simple and rectangular, make easy triangles, or use your imagination and stitch some groovy curves. You can decorate with buttons to close the flaps, you could also change the shape of the hand appliqued handles.
As a little extra for you to enjoy, in my sample I have made three handbagz which have a "secret" compartment - just like a real one!

Shoez pattern
When designing my Handbagz and Shoez patterns I wasnt planning the girly pairing to need a third element. Wrong! Demand for Hatz has been so constant that I reluctantly acquiesced, then set about to improve my millinery skills.
As a result we have three blocks to work with; 6, 8 and 10 Hatz. Variety enough for any head. Easy enough for anyone to make.
With a multitude of ways to change and decorate them, the joy in making these blocks becomes quickly apparent;
Make your hats tall, regular or short.
Round off the body or leave it flat.
Turn the brim up or turn it down.
Include a hat band or leave them plain.
Trim with ribbonz, bowz, rosez or buttons.
Now place these designer delights on hat boxes, float them in a block, stack them on each other or perch them on hat stands or heads.
Perhaps theme your Hatz blocks - from a day at the beach, a day at the races to every Mad Hatters tea party in between.
Im not a hat wearer myself but I secretly look forward to playing ladies in the future.
